How Lemodus began

Our Founding Story

Founded in 2014 in Brisbane, Australia, Lemodus is a refreshing software as a service company for small businesses.

Born from a passion for building simple solutions to help small businesses grow, Lemodus was created.

Lemodus, pronounced "Leh mode us", is all about the way we do things.
Our aim is to make it simpler and easier in business to do.

Here's a little bit of our history.

  • 1994 - 2013
Like any legendary friendship, Joseph Chesterton and James banks meet in the kindergarten playground at the age of 3 years old. By coincidence, they attended every school and university together too.

  • 2014
After dropping out of university to start their web agency (Web3), they quickly understood the importance of good systems.

Lemodus was founded (formally known as Systemate) as a way to easily organise business systems and procedures internally.

  • 2015
Major work begins to turn the app into a fully-fledged software as a service solution.

  • 2017
Systemate is rebranded to Lemodus and version 1.0 of the workspace software is released to the world.

  • 2019
Lemodus launches the Lemodus Lounge for business owners to learn about and discuss business topics together.

The Lemodus Journey Updates are shared for transparency and insights.
